Who we are
Cygnus Studio was named for the Cygnus constellation; “cygnus” being the Latinized Greek word for “swan”. It is from this power and purpose that our founder, AshleyRae Swann, curates modern designs as unique and infinite as the stars.
Founded in 2015, Cygnus Studio has proudly served as a licensed Interior Designer for over 15 years. Proudly serving the Washington, DC, Maryland and Virginia metropolitan areas.
Implementing a modern approach to design, Cygnus Studio connects with a client’s values and lifestyle to fashion designs that completely ensure versatility and optimum function, comfort, and style.
Seeing a need for luxury stationery elements, Cygnus Studio began our journey of hand-lettering and calligraphy services for weddings and special events. Our work has been featured in Washingtonian Weddings, Capitol Romance and a slew of other local and national publications.
Elevating the gifting experience for their social clientele, Cygnus Studio added hand engraving, bottle painting, hot foiling to our services. We specialize in brand activations, experiential marketing, working with luxury brands while still maintaining our commitment to weddings and special events.
As one of the sole woman-owned firms led by a person of color, Cygnus Studio uses its influence to advocate for social justice, equality, and equity within the Interior Design industry and in the community.

AshleyRae Swann is a life-long arts and crafting junkie. Inspired by all mediums of fine art, literature, and antiques, her services are executed with equal parts heart and imagination. She believes every occasion is made more special with a little extra sparkle and creativity.
AshleyRae has learned that adding a personal touch to a client’s project adds a bit of magic that distinguishes the Cygnus Studio brand for a lasting impression. A personalized thank you tag, the bedroom of your HGTV fantasies, or a gorgeous piece of mail hand addressed to the receiver; all bring joy, excitement, and makes living any day even better.
Her design philosophy is simple: treat everyone as the unique spirit they are. There is only ONE you in the world.
In her available time, AshleyRae is an avid reader, painter and swimmer. She enjoys travelling, spending time with family, and community advocacy.
AshleyRae is the proud alumna of Virginia Commonwealth University and is an NCIDQ Licensed Interior Designer, a member of the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) and Association of Wedding Professionals of Greater Washington, DC (AWP).
